*MACHETE*
Wow, what can I say....this was the most fun I have had watching a movie in a very long time. Robert Rodriguez really knows how to bring the sexy back to your movie watching experience. THANK YOU, RR! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! From the erratic all-star cast including Robert DeNiro, Lindsay Lohan, Michelle Rodriguez, Cheech Marin, Steven Seagal, Jessica Alba, Don Johnson and of course the strapping, tenacious and just plain KICK ASS, Danny Trejo, to the amusing sound effects, this movie DELIVERS. I laughed, was moved, became excited, it was just plain fun. Actually, it was anything but, plain. More like maniacal, wacky, eccentric fun! But fun, nonetheless. If you haven't seen this movie, go to your local Red Box right now and get it. Order it on Netflix (although that might take to long). Do what you have to do, but see this movie immediately. Then come talk to me about it :)

I have seen some of Robert Rodriguez's other movies that I have enjoyed. I liked the overall feel of the movie except for the gore. Danny Trejo was really good I liked that he was somewhat honorable. The movie kind of hit close to home being it was about Texas and we have many people here like the Robert De Niro and Don Johnson characters. Once I got past most of the gore I really enjoy the movie and laughed thru most of it with my eyes covered.
ReplyDeleteGore is merely an artform of cinema. I appreciate all aspects of cinema. Especially gore!

I'm going to get you a gorno for Christmas....
I only developed this aversion in the last few years I really won't watch any gory movies. I only watched this one because you so highly recommended it. I know this sounds strange from the ex queen of horror books and serial killer autobiographies. I'm not sure if it is something that happened as I got older. Although I do have a book of the most famous serial killers sitting in the backseat of my car
ReplyDeleteYou're right, it does seem strange. Considering that you were the one who had me read Mass Murder in Houston when I was in junior high school. Which I then recommended to all my friends (who it still haunts to this day). Just ask Teresa what she thinks about Dean Corll! I guess I can be pretty morbid sometimes. I did grow up watching horror movies at our family gatherings. Some of my fondest childhood memories are being together and watching ridiculous horror films on Christmas Eve. HOWEVER, I do have my limits. I do not enjoy watching movies where human torture and/or humiliation is the key component. For example, The Devil's Rejects. I hate that movie with a passion. The Last House on the Left. The original, and the remake. Both, awful. Gore, however, BRING IT ON! Especially when it's presented with that sort of loony edge we all know as CAMPY.
ReplyDeleteI can still picture Dean Coril to this day driving up in the driveway of my friends house to pick up her brother . It is terrifying to know how close to evil we actually were. I was telling Amanda about all the horror Christmas movies Sherri would bring my favorite was Jack Frost the horror version and it wasn't on Christmas but one of my favorite memories is with you and I watching The Pit. I am going to order the dvd version for you. It seems no matter what OS happening in your life that a book or a movie can take you someplace else even if just for alittle while
ReplyDeleteI'm going to read these posts a lot!
ReplyDeleteThe majority of the population would NEVER get that. Something special that we can always share <3 My fav Sherri horror flick was Silent Night, Deadly Night about the killer Santa.
